Having missed the March edition of Dutch Comic Con due to a nasty flu, I am ecstatic to report that I made it to the November one. As always, it did not dissapoint. People of all ages flocked to the event hall in a calm and orderly fasion. Probably as happy as I was to let out their inner geek. The Dutch Comic Con is a magical realm, you know. You can be as quirky and weird as you are on the inside without fear of being judged or ridiculed because everyone is all like that. I have seen teenagers in selfmade costumes and I have seen grown ass people giddy to meet the actor that portrayed their favourite character, like me! People, that otherwise would probably not get a chance, just want to connect. They want to belong and they feel free to express themselves however they please. There’s no rudeness, no shoving, no swearing, no cutting the line. This is the only place where strangers give you high fives and offer free hugs. All are welcome and all are accepted and celebrated even. I hope the kids attending the Sinterklaas event next door learned a little something about doing what makes you happy.

Dutch Comic Con hosts MacGyver
This time the venue was bigger to better accomodate the crowds. It was not as stuffy and crowded like last year when there was no room to walk through the stands without stepping on toes. The only thing that was not optimal was the fact that the meet and greet panel was right next to the main stage and boy, was it noisy. You could hardly exchange two words with the Evil Queen or MacGyver without having to say everything twice. I did feel a little bit sorry for Jerome Flynn who didn’t seem to have many fans willing to pay for his John Hancock.
On the up side, there were far less slutty harley Quinns this year. And in general a little less sluttyness. On the down side, I smelled a lot of farts. Must have been the excitement.
I took a couple of pics for you, the quality is what you’d expect from an unexperienced gal with a badass camera. Crappy, that is. I think the cosplay costume I liked the most was the “I’m Mary poppins y’all!!”
